Juan Tomas Christian, 61, died of cancer October 26, 2009, at home in Battle Ground.

Christian was born Sept. 9, 1948, in Cintalapa, Mexico, moved to Clark County in 1976 and taught school in the Battle Ground School District for 30 years. He enjoyed golfing, fly fishing and reading classic literature. He was a master woodworker who won prizes for furniture items he constructed.

Survivors include wife Marcia of Battle Ground, son Randy Robbins of Spokane, daughters Stacy Bissell of Battle Ground and Amanda Richards of California, brothers Carlos Burgette, Rafael Burgette and Joe Christian, all of California, and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 7, 4 p.m., at Prairie High School, with Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Camas, in charge of arrangements.
